Chores for Kids

By Dawn Salisbury

Use this idea the next time you decide to start up chore charts for your kids. There are two parts to this system.

Part 1:

The Treasure Hunt

Ø     Laminate some business size cards with single, different chores you want your kids to do, like dusting, vacuuming, dishes, etc., on a daily basis.

Ø     Add pictures to the back if they can’t read yet.

Ø     Hand your child one card, then hid the rest (up to 3 at a time for one child).

Ø     As they clean, the idea is that they find the other card that directs them onto the next chore.

Ø     One rule applies: they need to finish the chore before moving onto the next chore/hunt.

Part 2:

One Room Cleaning

Ø     Keep these available for the one day a week cleaning or as a reference for cleaning each room.

Ø     If a child chooses/finds “Straighten Room of Your Choice”, use these cards for reference.

Ø     Use a crayon or dry erase marker to check off chores as completed.
