Soft Pretzels

by Dawn Salisbury

Soft Pretzels

Super easy pretzels that are soft and yummy!

Ingredients:

1 frozen loaf of bread
Flour
4 cups hot water
1/2 c. baking soda
Kosher salt (I used regular table salt in a pinch)
2 T. melted butter

Directions:

Raise the frozen loaf according to rapid rise method. (Heat oven to 200 and boil 1 quart of water. Place the bread in a greased loaf pan. Place in oven. Pour boiled water into a cookie sheet on the lower rack. Turn off oven. Wait 2-4 hours or until bread has risen over the top of the edge of the pan).

Preheat oven to 450.  Lightly dust a clean counter surface. Knead the loaf until no longer sticky. Roll into a log and slice it into 12 pieces. Roll out the pieces one at a time until about 20-24 inches. Twist into pretzel shape.

In a large bowl, pour 4 cups of hot water and 1/2 c. baking soda. Stir until the baking soda is dissolved. Dip each pretzel in the water and place on a greased cookie sheet.

Cook for 8-10 minutes or until brown on top. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle salt on top.
