A Homemaker's Day Book

January 23, 2009

OUTSIDE MY WINDOW: Snow, again! We had 3 beautiful 65 degree weather and got spoiled. It's freezing now, 12 degrees and feels like 7. I took Bella out for a walk a little bit ago and my ears froze.

I AM THANKFUL FOR: Women and acts of service. Last night we did a service project at church: we collected used purses and filled them with cosmetic samples and I took them down the women's shelter today. It felt so good to do stuff like that, plus I found out what stuff the really needed, so that gives me more ideas for service for them.

FROM THE KITCHEN: Lunch: Pumpkin Soup, biscuits with orange-cherry jelly (homemade and tastes like heaven) and pears. Dinner: Mashed potatoes, "mock" chicken fried steak...it was awesome!! (new recipe) and corn. White gravy over it. I also made a huge batch of chocolate chip cookies too, but I froze half the batch for use later. No need for 80 cookies laying around, right?

I AM READING: The Sleeping Beauty Proposal

I AM HEARING: Crying.

I AM CREATING: A budget for the year/month/tax return/school.

I AM GOING: Nowhere. Roads are too icy.

I AM HOPING: To get the house cleaned up, laundry caught up, shopping lists made, and school room organized.

AROUND THE HOUSE: School room looks like a bomb went off in here. Papers, clothes, toys are everywhere. Rest of the house is okay though and I cleaned the kitchen really good tonight.

ONE OF MY FAVORITE THINGS: I felt like today was a wonderful day. Curtis and I worked out this morning with his new idea: a deck of cards. The black numbers are the number of pushups to do, the reds are situps. Face cards were arm exercises or leg exercises. Then we did some of the walking in place thing just for 15 minutes. I was able to do every one of the pushups and we did 30 cards!! (Situps aren't so good). We went to MOPS this morning and I had a good visit with the ladies there. I got to deliver those purses, and I gotta say, I love feeling like Santa Claus. I liked snuggling down in bed with the baby and napping with him this afternoon. I enjoyed the meals I made and was quite proud of them, they were all yummy. The kids have been happy and playing nicely together and they have a friend spending the night. I think the TV was on for only 1.5 hours today! That's got to be a new record!

A FEW PLANS FOR THE REST OF THE WEEK: Get back on track for working out, budgeting for the year, and planning to not really do much except school and household stuff for the next week.

A PICTURE THOUGHT TO SHARE WITH YOU:

Can't get a pic. loaded tonight, sorry!
