37 Weeks
I am 37 weeks today. 3 more to go, exactly. I had an OB appt. this morning. It took 2.5 hours to finally get done because the clinic was running so far behind. Half of that time was with Simeon screaming that he couldn’t find their train book. Two of the nurses came to the rescue and found the book back in one of the exam rooms, all just to shut him up. Last night I was at the hospital to get checked out.
Contractions started sometime around 4 a.m. on the 7th. They lasted all day long, until at 4 p.m. I called the clinic and they had me come in to be examined. I don’t know if the weather is being weird, but everyone was at the hospital and they had no room for me, so I was put in the surgical recovery room and sat on the monitors for about 2 hours. I was checked 3 times. First time: dilated to 2-3, possibly could feel the bag bulging. Second time: painful and she didn’t feel anything. Third time: dilated to 2-3 and soft (effaced) and baby’s head was low. Dr. Byrd finally go there, asked if I wanted to walk around and get checked in a couple more hours or go home. If I did progress, I would be delivering in the recovery room. No thanks, I decided to go home. I made sure everyone had a bag and clothes ready to go…except myself.
Today: still dilated to 2, almost 3, and baby’s head is low. Not really what any of us wanted to hear, but that’s fine. Contractions never seem to get closer than 5-7 minutes apart. I went home and cleaned furniture to go to the consignment shop. But, I am tired. And the contractions are still coming, even as I write this tonight. So basically, with the seven hour break for sleeping last night, I’ve been contracting all during waking hours.
I went to the movies tonight by myself since I was really angry and annoyed (just a bit irritable)at everyone. I saw 27 Dresses, which was actually really a cute movie. Had contractions through that, but the weather feels decent tonight and I actually considered walking around the neighborhood, but probably not a good idea to do by myself and wearing dark clothes.
Dr. Byrd does not think I’ll make it to Valentine’s Day, Curtis says this weekend, and I guess I’m indifferent. I have never had early babies, and this seems pretty par for the course as far as what I’ve had in previous pregnancies. My back is killing me though and I woke up this morning feeling like a truck ran me over.
Strange things:
Missy, the cat, is following me around. Laying on me, sitting on my desk, etc. Last night I moved to Hannah’s bed after Joshua and Isaac joined us and Missy followed me to Hannah’s room too. Rosey, the dog, also seems to be concerned as she whines every time I sit down at my desk.
The weather is crazy lately and we have had all these fronts move through. Last night the barometer was falling, tonight the same thing, but it’s going to be warm tomorrow (a whole 48 degrees). Makes me wonder if that is attributing to things too.
I read a birth story of a woman having her 6th baby. She had annoying contractions all day, put it off till that night when her hubby insisted she go get checked. She was at 8 cm. when she went in!! Does anyone remotely think something that cool could happen to me?!
We cannot come up with a name for the baby, so I’ve narrowed it down to hair color: Dark: Levi, Blond: Ammon and Red: Seth. At least I can sleep at night with those thoughts.
